Patrick Kennedy has 'emotional' meeting with Jesse Jackson Jr.
Thu Aug 16, 2012
One has to wonder why two persons who suffer from these conditions should be in positions where their admittedly impaired natures affect millions of others. They should be receiving treatment. Of course if you're the son of a Kennedy, or a Jackson, or a Bush, the rules that apply to others don't app …
Pro-gay marriage groups have Chick-fil-A 'Kiss-In'
Fri Aug 3, 2012
Not sure what protest is supposed to accomplish, aside from providing a forum for expressing opinion. Close Chik-Fil-A branches and put people out of work? Force CEO to change beliefs?
What did you think if Ricky Gervais' comments?
Sun Jan 16, 2011
Like many "Yank" friends, I am increasingly tired of the flood of smug Brits in this country, most of whom miss no opportunity to bad mouth everything "American." We suggest they reutrn whence they came and embrace their comical and irrelevant royalty, shoddily-made products, inedible national cuis …
TNT may not cancel 'The Closer' after all
Mon Jan 24, 2011
Vincent D'Onofrio is the person to replace her. Bring the quirky persona - use the Goren mannerisms to the interrogations, etc. Any woman will be compared to Kyra and found wanting, so go with a male. It would also put him in conflict with the person who played his former ADA, and the L&O shrink …
Did Ricky Gervais get his Golden wish?
Mon Jan 17, 2011
His comments went beyond edgy, they were - as Robert Downey, Jr. correctly noted - mean, and mean is not funny, it is simply meant to be hurtful. The pople in the audience he ridiculed did not have a chance to repsond, for the most part. Hanks and Allen were right on target, but not mean. Kudos to t …
Pip, pip, cheerio: Oscar voters love the Brits
Thu Nov 18, 2010
Everywhere you turn today in America, the Brits are there! British voices are in our commercials, news programs, entertainment, usually in the role of superior intellects - wiser, more cultivated and refined, better taste. Having heard local Brits who have lived in the U.S. for years without becomin …
Rep. Rangel skips out of House ethics trial
Mon Nov 15, 2010
If I understand his defense correctly, the financial improprieties were due to sloppy and careless accounting, but he's supposed to be qualifed to head the Ways and Means Committee?
What do you think of the vuvuzelas at the World Cup?
Tue Jun 15, 2010
The World Cup should be about the play, not something the fans are doing in the stands. Any chance to inclrease US interest in WCS is evaporating, although I doubt if the rest of the world cares much what the US thinks or does.
Late-night hosts poke fun at Leno-O'Brien mess
Wed Jan 13, 2010
I don't watch Leno or Conan. Leno stopped being entertaining years ago. I've never found anything of interest with Conan, rather, a second rate version of Letterman's smug, smart-ass manner. Carson was the last host worth watching.
Serena's $10,000 fine, loss enough punishment
Sun Sep 13, 2009
In virtually every other sport - team or individual - if a player threatens an official, they are ejected. Normally, they are fined and suspended after review. Whether in the heat of the moment, or otherwise, Serena twice threatened an official. Whether she would acutally have harmed her is academ …
